Trobes2's future?

Anyone listened to Diamondback on wsbn?
I would *NEVER* think/guess that this is where it will end up. I've been playing Tribes1 for 2+ years and was waiting for T2 all that time, no one would've thought it will end up in such a sad way.
Tribes3? yeah right! say bye bye (VGB VGB) to that; tribes2 expansion pack? sheeeesh, no expansion for you (VGB,VGS) and what would they put in it ? new maps? more fog? more bugs?
Tribes2 World Domination tournament, winner gets $60,000 ? Hah, scratch that too.

Tribes2 made a profit of about 2-4mill $$ and it was expected to make MUCH more so Sierra can not afford anymore money for patches, expansion pack or any other wotk on T2. Which means that we could be getting 1 or 2 more patches and then bye bye to support.

The only way to save T2 would be if a lot of ppl show interest and if a lot of ppl will want those expansions... Unfortunatly that's not the way it is.. I rememember play Tribes1 week after t2's release, there were about 400 ppl online.....i played it last night, there were 1400 ppl online. A lot of teams return to T1.

And they dont even have demos!!!!!!!!!!!! motherfather!

They cant release any expansion packs until they get the original game working properly! But I do not think that the future of T2 is dead... sure it not be looking particularly bright at the moment but it is hardly dead......

Since December of '98 I was a hardcore T1 fan. Now I can't stand playing T2 because of the MF'ing freezes every few seconds. Blah.

Exactly, I understand the need to turn down the settings on a Voodoo 3 3000 agp... but even after turning them down, it jitters?

Turn it up to moderate settings and no real change?

Really sad guys...

Exactly Wyvern. Take my rig... there is no reason why you should have to lower the settings at 1024*768 res.

sacrifice a little.... 800x600 32-bit... or, in my case, max everything at 640x480 and turn on FSAA.

tribes 2 is worse on the comp than d2, and that is really hard to say d2 is not the hardest game on your comp

Im sorry, but with MD's rig he shouldnt have to go to 800x600... and I sure as hell shouldnt be forced into 640x480 with low details...

Ahhhhhh puuuuhleeeze, dont compare tribes2 to D2...c'mon, this is action game, packed with beautiful, fps eating explosions. 2000+ polys ppl, sky, trees, water. nothing like D2
(im hate D2, got boring of it after a week....just MY opinion)

Well.....my concern is not poor performance....it's just...they not gonna have more patches (not many at least)
they not gonna put DEMO function in it
they not gonna make expansion pacl
they not gonna have 60k tourney
they not gonna have T3/t4/t5

i'm afraid you might have to cut the details at the least. a 32MB video card can only hold so many textures.

anyway, i'm syaing go to lower resolutions for a little bit of a performance boost. it'll help with troubleshooting.
