Many, many hours in MSPaint and Movies12...

So I got bored, and fired up MSPaint and Movies12 again.

I make little animated things of Starsiege. I don't know why, its like a hobby. I was waiting for my new computer parts to arrive, reminiscing over previous projects, and came across a folder I use to house the various maimed pixels that I created my animated .gifs from. Out of sheer nostalgia I created a new one.

Has a few bugs to work out. It'll give me something to do. Here's the old ones I've done. You've probably seen them as my avatar at some point:

And a new Gorgon model I am working on:

I am proud to say that all of my mini models are visually correct (as far as you can make an Apoc and a Gorgon correct in 8-bit and 1/1000th the size). If you look very closely at the Knight variants you can see the Earth Crest. I was so very bored as a child.

Holy mother of Petresun... /me loves the new Apoc walking. How did you create these?

However, when I look at their GamerScores online and see that they don't even have the cojones to get all 1000 points from EA's Fight Night Round 3, I know that I'm better than them, not just as a gamer, but as a human being as well." - Achievements Anonymous

I begin every animated .gif with a "pallete". Basically I take a good sized MSPaint area and draw the picture out and then play with it. Copy the parts of the picture I will need for the new frame, delete out old pieces, draw in places with the pencil tool. I do everything pixel by pixel.

Heres the example of my Apoc pallete:

I go into MSPaint, copy out the individual finished Apocs, pixel measure where the new frame needs to line up with the old one (I could write a tutorial on this) and save it as a new frame. Fire up Movies12, time the frames correctly, and then save the finished project.

I've got the Macrostudios suite (came with my tablet). I just use this way because it is the way I invented. I also have GIMP installed, just never use it.

[edit] MSPaint horrors?! You saying something about my .gifs?!

I'm pretty sure you've been to Deviant art haven't you grey?
Some people have lots of spare time to do some of the really nice art with MSpaint...
Now I'm not saying that MSpaint is good. Some people just have time to make good art with a crappy program :P

Weatherlight, you're forgetting that MSPaint has the word "Microsoft" in it, therefore, to grey, it's like using Satan himself to paint a portrait.
