    Is T:V worth it?

I've been wondering if I should get Tribes: Vengeance, but i've been hearing all about this delayed patch and stuff... Is something wrong with the game? How well is the single player campaign done? (from what i've seen the voice acting is... umm... not good.) But I like tribes... Should I get it?

i'm a huge fan of Tribes 1 and 2. but even before its release, i'd decided to only get T:V for SS:2845, since it wasn't really Tribes in any sense of the name to me.

really, at this point, it's a waste of money. but since i didn't want it anyway, no loss to me.

so IMHO, don't bother, save your money, and pretend it doesn't exist. SS:2845 is bound to be better in every way anyway. what you and i knew as Tribes still far exceed T:V.

I can't remember my acount name in tribes 2, and I haven't been emailed my name+password, even after two days. So I guess I can't even play Tribes 2.

So what is SS? I've kindof read the storyline in your articles, but I just ignored it and thought it was for the super crazy trekke nerds.

Is it a mod, or a totally stand-alone game? Do I need to play "earthsiege" to get the story? Because old games scare me

Starsiege was standalone. in fact, it was intended to be released before Tribes, as Tribes was based on the same graphics engine.

Starsiege: 2845 will be based on the Torgue engine and will also be standalone.

the old games would probably only help you if you were going to write some fanfiction, but if we say that, then you might as well play everything from Hunter Hunted to Nova 9 and Stellar 7 to Earthsiege to Cyberstorm. the storyline is that deep.

but in any case, it's just a "good game." worth playing no matter whether you even knew about its history.

Agreed, with the exception of a "good game". Starsiege is much more than just a good game, it is a great game, perhaps even the online mecha game, as far as I'm concerned. Great community too.

This being the Tribes forum, I have to disagree and say that Tribes 1 was "THE" online mecca of gaming

wtf is mecca? And while we're at it, pwned is just another way of righting owned right? And what the heck is an Impact Printer? If I get a 512mb flash mp3 player, could I store and transfer non-mp3 files? (IE Red vs Blue episodes.) And one more thing; are CD cracks legal?

    1) Mecca is a Muslim holy place. Mecha is a "brand name" for mech-style gaming, ie. big killer walking robots.

    2) pnwed is the lamer's way to say "owned", which is the lamer's way of saying you have nothing else to say

    3) an impact printer uses pressure to apply ink to a page. think of screechy dot matrix printers, or old typewriters. they're still necessary in some cases for carbon/carbonless multi-part forms.

    and...

    4) Tribes 2 was every much a Tribes game as Tribes 1 was. Tribes: Vengeance, on the other hand, went way out into left field, and even left some stuff behind instead of adding more madness

SS:2845 looks like it will rock... the biggest problem is the waiting

i have t v and its really your call like tribes series go and get it.. dont like tribes. dont even bother looking for it.. t v is most likely the least newbie friendly game out there. and there weapons are super slow compared to the speed at which players move... or can move.In my opinion u need to be very good at tribes or at least have sum experience with tribes to even consider playin this game. note to all players in t v never use the speed pack its complety useless!!

Tribes 2 is my personal drug of choice thank you very much...it's too bad T:V was misshandled. With time and proper community it really could've become something sweet. That's basically what happened to T2. Craptastic early release, but then patches and further community development and interest make it better.
