    Halo PC Graphics Problems.

I recently obtained a copy of Halo PC. It runs through the beginning animations, but as soon as it hits the menu, the screen goes black.

I can still hear the navigation sounds when I move the arrows/enter/escape keys, and can hear the in-game audio if I navigate blindly into a game. But the screen remains black.

I have updated the game to 1.07.

I figure this is a problem with the graphics card, or compatibility with the graphics card.

My computer specs are as follows:

    - AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.00 Ghz
    - 1 gig of ram @ 400mhz
    - NEW Nvidia GeForce 6200 graphics card (128 mb).

Latest drivers have been installed for the graphics card. This card is set as the primary display adapter, and on-board graphics drivers have been uninstalled. However, I'm not sure if I disabled on-board graphics.

It runs fine in safe mode.

Any ideas? I read that NVidia cards are supposed to be great for Halo PC. Any ideas what the problem is?

that's because no one looks in this forum any more.

also, it's your video driver. if it works in safe mode (which uses the VGA driver by default) and not normally (which uses your video card's installed driver), it is your video card's driver. use a different version.

I also have had this same problem recently. But I have discovered what was causing my problem, maybe it will help you also. I was having some computer quirks and decided to revert back to the older driver for my motherboard. When I did the AGP controller part of the driver did not install correctly, So even though my Nvidia driver and gforce 7600 gs were working correctly the board wasn't. So I ended up with the exact same problem Kurt described. I screwed with my computer for about four days before I figured it out. I had to uninstall my graphics driver and update the motherboard driver, then reinstall the graphics driver and everything works great.
