Point being that once the company in question contacts you, you take action. I've always found sites that did "pre-emptive moderation" to irritate the hell out of me. Always makes me picture them as "working for the man".
Anyway, all this is pointless since you've announced that you're aware that the thread exists, it makes the entire conversation from that point moot. Except as it applies to moderation of the site in the future.
I used to take an active role in sites I was admin/modertator on. Then I figured out that it's better to wait on an email telling me someone clicked the report button. That way I'm not constantly micro managing something that doesn't need to be micro managed.
