    Grand Theft Auto IV Problem

So, the other day I borrowed my friends copy of Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360. Needless to say I was excited. However as soon as I started playing it (about 5 or 6 minutes into the opening scene) it froze on me.

Now the friend I borrowed it from is one of those kids who doesn't "take care" of there games. So I figured it was scratched or dirty. I cleaned it off and went at it again. This time I skipped the cut scene and got right into the game. This time, about 15 minutes into playing, it froze again. Once again I cleaned it. But from then on it kept freezing, and I kept cleaning it.

I figured the game was fucked. I then asked my other friend to borrow his copy. Reluctantly he said yes. But when I got back to my house to play it. The same problems with freezing continued to happen.

I have stopped playing Grand Theft Auto because it isn't fun or productive to play for 10 minutes at a time. I thought that all my games would start doing this freezing problem, but they didn't. Call of Duty 4 works along with all of my other games.

So after waiting a few years for this game to come out and pretty much purchasing an Xbox for this game, my system rejects that game and only that game.

So I guess my point of all this is that I desperately need your help. I have looked all over the net and found no other cases of this happening for Grand Theft Auto.

Does any one here have similar problems with GTA or other games. If so how did you fix it if you did.

Any responses would be greatly apreciated.

Also, it is good to be back again.

    Here's your solution:

    1. Walk/Drive to your favorite electronics store.
    2. Walk to the video game section.
    3. Find the Playstation section.
    4. Locate a PS3.
    5. Pick it up.
    6. Locate the PS3 edition of Grand Theft Auto IV.
    7. Pick it up.
    8. Walk to a register.
    9. Pay for the PS3 and the copy of GTA IV using your preferred payment method.
    10. Walk/Drive home.
    11. Open the PS3 box.
    12. Remove the PS3.
    13. connect the PS3 to your television.
    14. Connect the PS3 to a source of electricity.
    15. Open the GTA IV package.
    16. Power on the PS3.
    17. Insert the GTA IV disc into the PS3.
    18. Commence fun.

I'm not sure what kind of rock you've been living under, but about ~10% of 360's have had freezing problems with GTA IV and Rockstar said there isn't much they can do for the moment apart from acknowledge that "something" isn't right. Although it's probably firmware/software specific since the PS3's have had similar issues but on a smaller scale. This all pretty much came to light the day the game was released so its definitely nothing new. Regardless, the PS3 seems to have a lot less trouble with this game than the 360.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a lot you can do. PS3 owners have the option to uninstall/reinstall the game... perhaps you can try deleting your save games? I know Sony has responded with "we're working on a solution" but I don't think MS has commented yet.

    Sorry man.

They didn't fix the ones with lizards inside that burned down peoples' houses, so I'd doubt it.

It's not a problem with your Xbox, it's an incompatibility with the game. That falls on Rockstar's shoulders, not MS'.

no freezes here, knock on wood.

Pretty phyced about the game tho, can't seem to stay away...which sucks because I didn't really like the rest of the series and really didn't think I'd get addicted like this
