game is kinda slow?

Hey I just upgraded to a XP1600+ (1.4 ghz) and 256MB of Crucial RAM... but the game still seems kinda slow... My framerate is between 30-60 fps.... but doesn really feel that way... My other fps games run a lot fast but axis i dont really notice a change as much as the others..

I'm running windows 2k and im using the GL exe for axis...

Your CPU and RAM won't do too much in terms of helping speed up a game, as long as what you were upgrading from wasn't ancient. What's your video card? That's probably your bottle neck.

There's also the 60 fps-bug that's plagueing older games under W2K and XP. You ought to get a refresh rate fixer for your video card.

And my vid card is a Geforce 2mx 32MB...

Turn off the frame limiter. On a geforce 4 Ti4600 Aixs runs about 512 frames per sec

Basically, Win 2K and XP fixes the framerate at 60 fps, unless the game properly supports a couple of new DirectX features. Most older games don't.


There are a couple of programs around that fix this problem by setting the refresh rate to a specific value. I suggest you check google for a program that works with Nvidia based chipsets. I'd love to send you mine, but unfortunately I use a Radeon 8500...

IIRC, you can also set the video card up in nVidia's config panel, with a couple registry hacks.

IIRC means "If I Recall Correctly", while a registry hack is just that: some modifications to the registry entries in order to make them work outside the manufacturers parameters.

Basically, souping up the darn thing.

I got a Geforce 3 Ti 200 64MB... and i run about 30-60... even with RefreshForce installed. What frame limiter did you use? I'm running windows 2000.

Hehe... u don't really need the registry hack to get past REAL...
No offence to REAL....
But they need better security on their stuff....
Instead of just putting the "full version" and giving a time limit they should really just do wat the demo does...
Limiting parts...
It might not elimnate all hacks but at least it should make it harder.... (slightly)

We were talking about the 60 Hz bug commonly encountered with windows 2000/XP systems. There are a few hacks that force the system to run certain applications at higher rates than the default 60 Hz. That is what was meant by a registry hack, not hacking the registration code of Axis, which would be a ->serial. Or rather Serialz, in l33t-gibberish.

If you'd now kindly sew your mouth shut before someone else feels appointed to do so...

go back and read the context of what was said, please. i was talking about activating the CoolBits control panel for configuring an nVidia video card; not Real.
