Platform emulation is pretty much the only way to reliably play even 32-bit games, now.

As for Facebook, I've never heard of a page for the site. Maybe the others would know, assuming they actually posted here anymore.

Personally, I visit the forum every now and then, hoping it comes back to life. Crow had done a good chunk of work on this game and I've done a bit of data exploration myself.

Would be nice to put that knowledge to good use again.

As for other OSes, I doubt 7 would work if Vista doesn't. Unless you can get Vista or 7 for 32-bit processors.

Besides that, the only other alternative I can think of is a Windows XP emulator.

Is there any chance to get the patch nowadays? The links are no longer valid and I would like to play with the updates.

    Thanks in advance.

For the 2nd and 3rd elite missions, would it be possible to have a manufacturing plant off to the side of the map, hidden from view more or less, and a few turns into the game, say 4-6, or triggered after 2-3 turns of actual combat, where it would spawn a flanking group to attack yeur troops from the side/rear as reinforcements?

I'd like to see a bit more emphasis on map exploration, and surprise flanking moves to be defended from, rather than just lining up my guys in essentially a straight line with heavy forward shielding and no real risk.

Having to watch for reinforcements, or take out smaller bases first, or even if taking out a smaller base warns the main base to get into actual formation instead of just being spread out like normal and lemming-ing themselves into the line a few at a time would be great.

Brute force with stronger units is one thing, but rarely accomplishes much. Adding a 0 onto the end of how much life and damage something does is not really that interesting for game balance. Making them do new and exotic things yeu hadn't thought possible that requires new tactics to counteract, that's generally far more fun to play and challenging. Double the health and damage of the cybrids, and the third mission would still be a boring mop up job with how it's set up currently.

Having Nihilus out front to act as a meat shield and protect smaller units in the back, actually moving in a formation with say... artillery style units waaaaay in the back with massive range missiles that just wait for the front lines to break down their shielding would be alot more creative gameplay.

I think it would be really cool if you could somehow get to where you could use Cybrid Hercs. Like... buy cybrid hercs you encountered. I just think it would be really cool to walk in somewhere with a group of hades and juggernauts.

    Update: 9/6/2009:

The file (and my download for the official patch too) had been corrupted somehow. It has now been fixed, so anyone interested should try again.

If anything breaks with your Cyberstorm after installing the player patches you can personally blame Crow!

    I give you permission.

This is a replacement of the .exe file for your existing VERSION 1.1 copy of Cyberstorm. If you have installed from the CD, you are at version 1.0. First install the 1.1 patch (which is an official patch of the game) with the second link above. Then make a copy of cstorm.exe file (so you don't lose it in case you want to return to the original) and copy this (unofficial) version 1.2 exe into the folder, replacing the real one.

As for sending Cyberstorm, we are not in the business of piracy, not even of old games like this. You can get a copy from ebay and amazon and other such sites for less than $10.
