Could it be an issue with a software firewall on the one laptop messing with the respawn control?

Actually I tried it with several maps, Millionaire, straight TDM, TDM with only City on the Edge as a map, MIB's Big Herc CTF, etc. All do the same thing, so I am thinking it has to somehow be a connection problem even though on the laptop in question I can load up the game and play online just fine. Also odd is the fact that I can start a non dedicated server inside the game and that works fine as well, and I can play it that way from another system without any restarts happening.
The oddest thing is that not only did I do a fresh install, but I then did a copy of my entire working Starsiege folder from the laptop that runs my servers correctly, and pasted it over top of the system that it isn't working on, so all the files are exactly the same and in the same directory on the same wireless network. They're identical, as is the OS.
I thought at first it might have been something in the connection itself, perhaps it not liking using port 29001 on both laptops at the same time, except that the server still restarts itself even when it is the only laptop running a server, so the multiple laptops conflicting theory is out. I even set my router to DMZ mode to pass through everything to the laptop having the issue. No dice there either.
Was just hoping someone had had this problem before of servers restarting themselves over and over every 20 seconds or so.Last edited by BDUAres; 03-24-2010, 10:46 PM.

What's the first map that loads? Check it, maybe that map has gotten corrupted or something...

I dont think it is a process, at least none that I can see. It gets to the point where you can see people looking for the server list - "sending 0 players" thingee, and if I am quick I can even jump into the game before it restarts itself. From my other laptop I can see the server, but it is the only one in my list that does not have the little antenna on the left side of the server name.

Is it restarting because its losing connection or is it like a process fuckup?

Dedicated server question
I thought I would play with a couple of my old dedicated servers and ran into a problem. While on one laptop my servers seem to run fine, on another laptop when I start the dedicated server things go fine for a minute or two, then the server restarts itself. This process repeats over and over.
I even reinstalled the game, and that didn't help. So I then USB drived the entire SS directory from one laptop to the other overwriting all files and I still get the same problem, but only on the one laptop.
Both installs are now identical, the only difference between the two is the type of machine they are running on, which shouldn't matter for a dedicated server in a cmd prompt window.
Both machines run identical Windows Xp Pro systems, one being a Compaq Presario V2000 series laptop with an AMD Turion 64 ML-42 and one being a Dell Precision M50 laptop with an Intel Pentium 4M 2.6 ghz.
Any ideas?Tags: None
